Una cosa genial sobre fundiendo una iglesia es que las cosas están constantemente cambiando. Acabamos de formar amistades duradas  y empezar a entender uno y otros cuando nueva gente llega y empezamos otra vez. El equipo está creciendo y ahora tenemos varios hispanohablantes entre nosotros, ¡incluyendo una visitante quien nació y creció en Madrid! Esta es una respuesta a la oración y sabemos que habéis orado con nosotros, por eso gracias por orando para esta mujer de paz. Con este ánimo pensaríamos hacia los planes por los cursos de verano y otoño y os pedimos que continuareis a orar.

Los meses del verano

Los meses de verano son largos y calorosos en Madrid. No es raro que los niños se vayan en campamentos durante unas semanas hasta los padres terminaran trabajo en agosto, después Todo el mundo se va de Madrid cuando la gente se vaya, regresando a sus pueblos donde hay  menos calor y más tranquilo. Entonces por el equipo puede ser un rato muy tranquilo, sin embargo, hay gente que quede y por eso estamos organizando picnics y otros eventos sociales para hacer amigos nuevos y mantener contacto con los otros. Estos meses están importantes, así que cuando el curso otoño llegue tendremos invitar gente para ir una curso de alpha o cimientos.

El curso otoño

En septiembre vamos a hacer alcance variado y emocionante en partes de Madrid diferente, donde tenemos o queríamos empezar un grupo de impacto. Estos van a ayudar invitaciones a una noche de cena y luego un curso de alpha. Estamos orando que veamos unos de nuestros amigos y contactos responder al evangelio en esta temporada así como empezando al menos uno otro grupo de impacto, quizás en el centro del ciudad.

Servir la ciudad

Estamos buscando mas maneras en que nuestro grupos de impacto pueden servir la comunidad alrededor con proyectos ya fundado o empezar un proyecto que unos amigos nosotros se llaman ‘serve the city’ (ver www.servethecity.es) puede ayudarnos por recursos y dando consejos. Tenemos muchas ideas que van desde empezando un ‘club de trabajo’, voluntariado en un grupo de pequeños para madres vulnerables, empezando una reunión de orar en el colegio cerca, empezando un club de deberes para niños quien están suspendiendo y otros actividades que han salido de los cuestionarios el último curso. Por favor, orad que podamos hacer contactos en nuestros barios para empezar los proyectos.

Vamos a reanudarse nuestro tarde de intercambio en septiembre.

Peticiones de Oración

·                     Orad que nuevos miembros del equipo instalarse bien y para todos como trabajamos juntos unificado.

·                     Orad por los meses del verano mientras Madrileños y miembros del equipo desaparecer, que el trabajo no para.

·                     Orad medida que nos acercamos   el curso otoño y empezar el alcance y elegir maneras para servir la ciudad.

Summer Blog

One of the greatest things about church planting is the constant change that goes on. Just as the team begins to form lasting friendships and start to understand one another, new people get added in and we begin again. The team is growing and we now have several Spanish speakers amongst us including our first regular visitor who was born and grew up in Madrid! This is an answer to prayer that we know you have shared with us and so thank you for praying with us for this woman of peace. With this encouragement we turn our thoughts to our coming plans for the summer and autumn term and ask you to continue to pray for us.

The summer months

The summer months are long and hot in Madrid. It’s not unusual for the children to go away on camps for a couple of weeks until the parents finish work in August, then Madrid empties and all the inhabitants return to their parents or grandparents homes out in the countryside where it is cooler and quieter. So for the team it can be a quiet time, however, there are people who stay and so we are organising picnics in the parks and other social events to make new friends and keep in touch with others. These months are important so that when the autumn term comes we have people who we can invite to come to an alpha or foundation course.

The autumn Term

In September we will be doing varied and exciting outreach events in different areas of Madrid where we have or hope to plant impact groups. These will lead to invitations to a supper night and later an alpha course. We´re praying that we might see some of our friends and contacts starting to respond to the gospel this coming term as well as starting at least one other Impact Group, maybe in the center of the city.

Serving

We are looking at more ways that our individual impact groups can serve the community around us with already established projects or starting a project that some friends of ours called ‘serve the city’ (see www.servethecity.es/) can help us with by resourcing and giving advice. We have many ideas ranging from starting a job club, helping in a volunteer capacity at a local toddler group for vulnerable mums, starting a prayer meeting in our local school, starting a homework club for children who are failing and other activities that have come out of doing the questionnaires last term. Please pray for us as we network in our neighbourhoods to start these projects off.

We will also be restarting our regular intercambio evening in September.

Prayer Requests

·                     Please pray for new team members to settle in and for us all as we work together in unity.

·                     Pray for our summer months as Madrileños and team members disappear, that the work does not stop.

·                     Pray as we approach the autumn term and begin our outreach events and choosing ways to serve this city.

Actualización

Hemos sido muy apoyados por varias personas con las que recientemente tuvimos un tiempo especial en la Conferencia de la Península Ibérica en Portugal. Fue genial ponerse al día con Simon de Salisbury, Óscar de México y el equipo apostólico que vino con Guy Miller. La conferencia nos ha dejado con dos estupendas cosas, un verdadero equipamiento para el futuro de Nuevas Fronteras Madrid y un joven de la iglesia de Óscar que ha decidido venir a ayudar y servir con nosotros. Su nombre es Marco (también conocido como Toño).

Evangelismo

Este es un año muy importante para nosotros en términos de avance y llegar a ser más evangélicos. Tenemos una estrategia que probablemente es muy semejante a la que la mayoría de vosotros leyendo este blog hacéis en vuestras propias iglesias en todo el mundo, sin embargo, estamos muy animados y un poco nerviosos porque lo habremos de hacer en español. En este momento estamos haciendo cuestionarios que sutilmente dirigen la conversación hacia los asuntos de Dios y sus experiencias con Él. Seguimos con la ya popular tarde de ‘intercambio’ cada mes, donde nuestro problema más grande es que estamos siendo superados en número por nuestros amigos españoles. También estamos compartiendo nuestra fe y testimonios regularmente con nuestros amigos, todas estas cosas nos están dirigiendo hacia eventos que organizaremos en los meses que vienen, para que la gente pueda dar un vistazo a lo que creemos. Por favor orad por nosotros mientras cometemos errores saliendo de nuestra zona de confort.

Equipo

Marco se va a quedar con nosotros por seis meses y ya ha estado aquí desde fines de Marzo. Siendo hispanohablante es invaluable en el equipo y está sirviendo en muchas maneras como en la alabanza, enseñando español al equipo y también es un cocinero impresionante. Pareciera que no hay nada que no pueda hacer bien.

Hay otra gente del Reino Unido que esperamos van a unirse al equipo, por eso estamos muy animados y orando. Todos los posibles miembros del equipo, junto con los miembros que ya se han trasladado a Madrid están mostrando una fe increíble en Dios y perseverancia. 

Oración

Entonces, como siempre, valoramos vuestro interés en nosotros e incluso más vuestras oraciones. Aquí está un resumen rápido de peticiones de oración.

·         Orad para hispanohablantes para venir y unirse, particularmente en el grupo de impacto por la tarde.

·         Orad por la gracia de Dios en nosotros para avanzar y hablar con nuestros amigos acerca de nuestra fe en Jesucristo.

·         Orad por la gente trasladándose de Madrid, especialmente buscando casas, colegios para niños y trabajo.

·         ¡Orad por que Marco nunca vuelva a su país!

Hemos sido bendecidos excepcionalmente, gracias por todas y cada una de sus oraciones.

Further Steps

Update

We feel we have been greatly supported by so many people and have recently had a great time at the Iberian Peninsula Conference in Portugal. It was lovely to catch up with Simon from Salisbury, Oscar from Mexico and the apostolic team that Guy Miller brings with him.

It has left us with two great things, a real equipping for the future of Nuevas Fronteras Madrid and a young man from Oscar’s church who has decided to come, help and serve with us, His name is Marco (aka Toño).

Evangelism

This is a crucial year for us to advance and become more evangelistic. We have a strategy which is probably very similar to what most of you reading this do in your own churches around the world, however, we are very excited and a little nervous as it will be done in Spanish. At the moment we are interviewing our friends using a questionnaire which gently leads the conversation into the matters of God and their experience of Him. We are continuing with the very popular `intercambio´ evening once a month where the greatest problem we face is being outnumbered by our Spanish friends. We are also sharing our faith and testimonies regularly with our friends, all of these things are leading towards events that we will be organising in the coming months in which people can look in on and check out what we believe. Please pray for us as we make mistakes stepping out of our comfort zones.

Team

Marco is going to be with us for six months and has already been here since end of March, being a Spanish speaker he is invaluable in the team and is serving in numerous ways in worship, teaching the team Spanish and is also a very impressive chef. It seems there is very little that he can’t do well. There are other people who are also hopefully coming to join the team from the UK which we are very excited about and praying for. All of these potential team member’s along with those who have already moved to Madrid are showing incredible trust in God and perseverance.

Prayer

So, as always we value your interest in us and even more your prayers. Here is a quick summary of prayer requests.

·                     Pray for God’s grace on us as we step out to tell our friends about our faith

The Nuevas Fronteras Team in Madrid

Two years on....

January, 2013, it’s been two years since the first family arrived from New Frontiers to start learning the language and culture and to
eventually plant a church into this great city of Madrid.

Impact groups
We now have two different impact groups meeting in the city. One meets in the morning, one in the evening. We decided to do this because we felt God call us to be less ‘event’ focussed and more people
focussed, recognising that Madrid is made up of many small ‘villages’ or ‘barrios’ that requires us to spread out and be relevant to the people around us.  It has been a great way to get to know people very quickly and a lot cheaper on the budget. We would like to keep growing groups in different barrios of Madrid. This has also helped us to start thinking and praying towards a second team starting to emerge in the south or the east of Madrid.

In each impact group we have between 6-10 adults and a handful of children. It has been a blessing to have young single people join these groups who are living in Madrid for a year or 
in some cases more. We believe this is going to be a strategic way of reaching people for Christ around us.

Local
Once a month we meet in a local more central to Madrid, where we get to worship, serve and preach all in Spanish with translation back to English.  Before Christmas we held a carol service where we had many guests (40 people attended including the team). It was great fun, getting our Spanish friends to read passages about Jesus’ birth from the bible with the microphone. Lesson learnt, that some like the microphone a little more than others. After every carol there was a spontaneous round of applause and a general feeling that this was Church planting, in the raw and so exciting.

Outreach 
The other Sunday of the month we organise a language exchange evening which have been very popular unless of course it’s raining as Spanish people don’t tend to come out of the house if it’s raining. We feel it’s a way to serve our community as many people are unemployed and when looking for a job, English is essential. At each one we explain who we are, what we are doing and that we want to be a blessing to Madrid.

Team meetings
On Wednesday evenings we meet at Kev and Ness’ house for team time, praying for one another and the task that is ahead of us, Confident that the one who has started the good work in us and Madrid will bring about its completion.

Please pray for us, we are all at different stages in our cultural adjustment and language learning due to different team members arriving at different times. Please pray that we gel as a team, have fun with one another and spur one another on. Please pray for more team members to come and live in a different part of Madrid and start something in their barrio.

Pray that we will see men and women of peace come to join us from our barrios, preferably Spanish speakers who will run alongside us and open up more opportunities to share the gospel.We know that we need your continued prayers and are grateful that you stand alongside us.

Llevamos 2 Años...

Han sido ya dos años desde que llego la primera familia de New Frontiers para comenzar aprendiendo el idioma y la cultura y luego fundar una iglesia en esta gran ciudad de Madrid.

Grupos de impacto
Tenemos ahora dos grupos diferentes de
impacto que se reúnen en la ciudad. Uno se reúne por las mañana y el otro por la tarde.  Decidimos hacer esto porque sentimos que Dios nos guiaba a estar menos centrados en los eventos y mas enfocados en la gente. Nos dimos cuenta de que Madrid esta compuesto por muchas pequeñas barriadas que requiere que nos extendamos y relacionemos con la gente de nuestro entorno. Ha sido una manera estupenda de conocer gente rápidamente y mucho mas barato para nuestro presupuesto. Nos gustaría continuar creciendo formando grupos en diferentes barrios de
Madrid. Esto nos ha ayudado, ademas, a empezar a pensar y a orar a favor de un nuevo equipo surgiendo en el sur o el este de Madrid.

En cada grupo de impacto tenemos entre  6 y 10 adultos y un puñado de niños. Ha sido una bendición que jóvenes solteros, quienes viven en Madrid por un año y en algunos casos por  mas tiempo, se han unido al grupo. Creemos que esta será una manera estratégica de alcanzar a personas para Cristo en nuestra zona.

Local
Una vez al mes nos reunimos en un local mas céntrico de Madrid, donde podemos alabar,
servir y predicar, todo en español con un traductor al ingles. Antes de Navidad celebramos una reunion para cantar villancicos, donde tuvimos muchos visitantes, (40 personas asistieron, incluidos los del equipo). Fue muy divertido, conseguir que nuestros amigos españoles leyeran, microfono en mano,  pasajes biblicos acerca del nacimiento de Jesus.
Aprendimos algo, a algunos les gusta mas el microfono que a otros. Despues de cada villancico hubo aplausos espontáneos y tuvimos una sensación general de que esta es una autentica aventura formando iglesias y tan emocionante!

Sirviendo
Un domingo al mes organizamos una tarde de intercambio de idiomas que esta teniendo mucho éxito, al menos que este lloviendo, pues los Madrileños tienden a no salir de casa cuando llueve. Sentimos que es una manera practica de servir a nuestra comunidad, pues muchas personas están desempleadas y cuando buscan trabajo el ingles es esencial. a cada uno le explicamos quienes somos, lo que estamos haciendo y que queremos ser una bendición para Madrid.

Reuniones del equipo
Los miércoles por la tarde nos reunimos los miembros del equipo en casa de Kevin y Ness. Oramos los unos por los otros y la obra que tenemos por delante, confiados que Aquel que ha comenzado la buena obra en nosotros y en Madrid la completara.

Por favor, ora por nosotros. Estamos todos en diferentes etapas de nuestra adaptación a la  cultura y al idioma,  debido a que los miembros del equipo han  llegado en periodos diferentes. Orad por nosotros para que cuajemos como un buen equipo, que disfrutemos los unos con los otros y que sepamos estimularnos unos a otros. Por favor, orad para que vengan mas miembros al equipo para vivir en diferentes partes de Madrid, y que comiencen algo en sus barrios.

Ora para que veamos a mujeres y hombres de paz unirse a nosotros en nuestros barrios, preferentemente hispanohablantes, que caminen junto a nosotros y abran mas oportunidades para la extensión del Evangelio.

Somos conscientes de que necesitamos vuestras oraciones continuamente, y estamos agradecidos de que estáis junto a nosotros apoyandonos.
